Understanding Your Results

Total Bandwidth

Bandwidth measures the maximum data throughput of your memory subsystem. Higher bandwidth benefits video editing, 3D rendering, scientific computing, and multitasking. Dual-channel mode doubles bandwidth compared to single-channel, making it one of the most important optimisations for free performance.

First Word Latency

First-word latency measures how quickly the memory responds to a request. It is calculated as (CAS Latency × 2000) ÷ Speed in MHz, giving a result in nanoseconds. Lower is better. While DDR5 has higher CL numbers than DDR4, the higher clock speed partially compensates, resulting in similar real-world latency.

Performance Grade

The overall grade considers both speed and latency relative to the current generation standard. S Tier represents enthusiast-grade memory, A Tier is excellent for most users, B Tier is good for general use, and C Tier suggests an upgrade would provide noticeable improvement.
