Memory Upgrade Path
The Prestige 14 A12SC has no memory slots. Its LPDDR4X memory is soldered to the board with a 32GB maximum, so the capacity is fixed when the machine is built.
The previous wording on this page — “2 soldered slots (upgradeable)” — was a contradiction: LPDDR4X is a soldered package by design and has no socketed form. No SO-DIMM of any generation will fit this laptop.
Storage Expansion (M.2 NVMe)
The Prestige 14 A12SC uses a standard M.2 2280 NVMe SSD with a PCIe Gen4 NVMe interface. The single M.2 slot supports drives up to 2TB.
Recommended M.2 2280 SSDs:
- Samsung 990 Pro NVMe 2280 — Flagship NVMe SSD with exceptional speeds.
- WD Black SN850X 2280 — High-performance NVMe with excellent sustained writes.
- Crucial P5 Plus NVMe 2280 — Excellent value NVMe with strong real-world performance.
Power Delivery & Charging
The Prestige 14 A12SC uses a 100W USB-C PD charger. This is compatible with any USB-C PD charger of equal or higher wattage from brands like Anker, Ugreen, or the original MSI charger.
Compatible USB-C PD Chargers:
- Anker 100W USB-C PD Charger — Compact GaN charger with multiple ports. Works with this and other USB-C devices.
- Ugreen USB-C PD Charger (100W+) — Affordable universal charger with fast charging and solid reviews.
- INIU USB-C PD Fast Charger — Budget option with reliable performance and portability.
Port & Docking Capabilities
Connectivity: 2× USB-A 3.2, 1× USB-C 3.2, HDMI 2.1, 3.5mm jack
A USB-C docking station like the Anker 577 USB-C Hub provides additional ports including HDMI, Ethernet, and USB-A for desktop convenience.
Upgrade Difficulty & Tools Required
The Prestige 14 A12SC has a difficulty rating of 5/5 for upgrades (5 = easiest). The upgrade process is very easy.
Tools needed:
- Phillips screwdriver (M2.5 or similar)
- Plastic spudger or pry tool (for bottom panel clips)
